QuickSCRIP offers the capability to integrate with the Dispill system. Quickscrip can transmit customer and drug information to Dispill software, which is then able to generate labels for their multi-dose blister packs. There in an integration fee for this feature. Please contact us if you are interested.

Click here to visit the Dispill USA Website.

The following instructions are for those customers already integrated with the Dispill System.

Facility Setup

If you are printing MARs for multiple facilities, you can use auto-profile codes to group patients with specific locations.

  1. Start in the Pharmacy Main Menu
  2. Select Option 3, Utilities
  3. Select Option 3, Business Control File
  4. Select number 28, Auto profile Code Descriptions

This screen allows you to assign facilities to an auto-profile code. In the small column, select a letter or number for the code, and in the larger column, enter the name of the facility. These codes can then be assigned to patients (covered in the next segment). Additionally, QuickSCRIP can be set to print the facility name at the top of the MAR sheets.

Note: You can use any letter (capital or lowercase), number, or symbol EXCEPT for A, a, E, e, or * (asterisk).

Patient Setup

Additional information can be attached to patients, which can be used in MAR forms.

  1. Start in the Rx Processing Menu
  2. Select option 13, Patient File Maint.

From here, search for the customer you'd like to update.

Auto Profile Code

You can group patients together under a facility with auto profile codes. This is useful for printing MAR forms by facility, and you can also group these customers together for other reports you might run. If you have linked auto profile codes by facility (covered in the Facility Setup segment) then you can attach it to a patient by entering the code on line 19.

Note: You can enter an * (asterisk) on line 19 to see what auto-profile codes are available from the assigned list.

Prescription Setup

There are two main filters for the Dispill system. QuickSCRIP will only pick up scrips for drugs that are marked with TAB or CAP. Scrips must have /ICODE= with a valid dispense code in the sig lines for them to be picked up and sent to Dispill.

The only setup needed for individual scrips is to add the Intake Code to the SIG lines. To do this you will enter /ICODE= followed by the code in any of the sig lines. Below is how to create valid codes:

Intake Code

Dispill typically prints blister packs for medication taken at 4 standard times of the day: Morning, Noon, Evening, and Bedtime. Different formats are accepted. This Code, once parsed, will print the quantity of pills where medication is needed and leave blank where it is not needed.

The code may consist of:

  • 4 consecutive round-numbers. Valid for every-day use. This format does not offer a lot of flexibility. Although it is supported, it is not recommended.
    • Example #1 : Medication taken in Morning and 2 during Dinner will result in that field showing : 1020
  • Each number separated by a semi colon. Many consist of round numbers or half pills coded with a “dot-5 ? “.5”. Valid for every-day use.
    • Example #2 : 1 1/2 pill in the morning and 2 at bedtime will result in 1.5;0;0;2
  • Specific day intake coded with first 2-letters of day in parentheses. Require for format with semi-colons. Valid for uneven day intake.
    • Example #3 : 1 Pill in the morning on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 2 pills every night will result in : 1(MO)(WE)(FR);0;0;2
  • Special, non-standard intake times but with regular intervals such as every other day can be coded with QQSPCEEYYMMDD for each intake time and can be interchangeable with other codes. The code signification n is below ( See example #4 )
    • QQ is the Qty of pills to take
    • SPC is the fix Code for Special indication
    • EE is the delay in days that we need to print pills. Ex 02 for every other day. 06 for every 6 days
    • YYMMDD is the date in this format for the first day to take the pills
    • Example #4 : 3 pills every other day in the morning with start on May 21st 2009 will result in 03SPC02090521;0;0;0
  • Very odd intake times can be coded with the following format. Note that this format could be used represent any of the above. Q^dd1:dd2:….. where Q is the Quantity and dd1 to dd99 are the days where pills are to be taken from the beginning date ie 1 means take pill on day 1.
    • Example #5 :1 pill in the morning on day 1 and 4, and 1 pill every day at noon and 2 pills on day 1,2,3 (discontinued) in the evening and none at bedtime will result in : 1^1:4;1;2^1:2:3;0

If there are exceptions that do not permit the instructions to be translated to either format, enter “XXXX”. If Dispill sees that code, it will print “See Instructions” in the header of the dosette and NOT print this medication in the details ( colored ) section.

If the drug has to be taken as a PRN (On an “as needed” basis, such as Aspirin) then the Intake Code needs to be PRN0. 1 label will print for every PRN.

If any other Code is entered that DISPILL cannot understand, it will assume “0000”. The print will NOT FAIL but the information shown in the header may be out-of-synch with the Text instructions.

Running the Report

The report for Dispill is setup to run similarly to a Nursing Home MAR report, and will be setup differently for each pharmacy. Your software representative will show you where to run the report.

By default, you can access the MAR Report screen through the reports menu:

  1. Start in the Pharmacy Main Menu
  2. Choose 4 Reports
  3. Choose 1 Rx Reports
  4. Choose option 22 Print Med Sheets (MARs)

Once in the report screen, you can run the report one of two ways:

  • By Name - Change lines 1 and 2 to be the patient name that you want the report for.
  • By Profile Code - By grouping patients together with Auto-Profile codes you can run a batch of patients at a time. Do this by putting the Auto-Profile code you wish to print in line 6.

Set line 4 to be the date range of when the scrips were filled in QuickSCRIP. It defaults to the last three years which is okay most of the time since the report will only pick up scrips that have valid dispensings during the report dates.

Set line 14 to be the date range of when the blister packs are for. If you have a scrip that was filled on July 1st for a 30 day supply but you are only printing the blister packs for the first week of the scrip, in line 14 you would put July 1st through July 7th. The following week when you wanted to print the next week's blister pack, you would enter the 8th through the 14th. It would still pick up this scrip because it has valid dispensings during this date range even though it wasn't filled during this date range.
